Tuesday (Feb. 21), Luke Bryan and his family once again found themselves in mourning. Little Sadie Brett Boyer passed away after a hard fought battle with a cardiac disease, which caused liver problems. At one point, she underwent dialysis, which proved to be unsuccessful.
Before she was even able to celebrate her first birthday, Sadie Brett’s mother, Ellen Boyer, revealed her baby girl, who everyone just calls “Brett”, had gone to Heaven.

Boyer, who is married to the brother of Bryan’s wife, Caroline, also thanked everyone on Facebook for the “overwhelming amount love [sic] and support you all have shown us in the devastating time.”
The Boyer family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Endowment Fund by making a check out to them and mailing it to:
Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt

Bryan’s social medias were flooded with messages of sympathy and prayers, and he responded by saying, “We thank all of you for your prayers. Love y’all.”
On Thursday (Feb. 23), Bryan performed at the Ryman Auditorium for Universal Music Group’s luncheon during Country Radio Seminar and spoke about the loss his family is mourning.
“Thank you so much for all your prayers coming out to me and my family the last couple of days,” he said to the crowd. “I’ll tell you what, when I’m checking my socials and see so many of you guys … that are kind of lifting my family up, I really appreciate it. It means the world to me.”

After speaking, Bryan introduced his newest single, “Fast”, which he said means so much more to him after what his family is going through this week.
Accompanying himself on the guitar, this version of “Fast” was more somber than any other performance we’ve seen so far. There was a certain sadness in his voice as he was singing the following lyrics:
“And all you keep trying to do is slow it down, soak it in
Keep trying to make the good times last as long as you can
But you can’t, yeah, man
It goes too fast
It just goes too fast
Way too fast”
The emotion he sings with brings tears to our eyes, especially because we know this song has taken on a whole new meaning for him.
