Miranda Lambert is no stranger to Number One songs. She notched her first one in 2010 with “The House That Built Me.”

The number one songs that followed were “Heart Like Mine,” “Over You,” her duet with Carrie Underwood, “Somethin’ Bad,” and “Bluebird.”

Her collaborations “We Were Us,” “Forever Country,” “Drowns The Whiskey” and “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” also went number one on either Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart, the Billboard Country Airplay chart, or both.

Not only is Miranda an incredible singer and artist, she is a dynamite songwriter, having co-written most of her own songs. Normally, her writing sessions are for her own projects, whether it be solo or with her group The Pistol Annies.

Recently, she had a writing session with Morgan Wallen and songwriter Nicolle Galyon. Together, they wrote the song “Thought You Should Know,” which Wallen first released in May 2022. He dropped it to country radio in November 2022.

He released an accompanying music video, which featured his mother, who the song is about.

“Thought You Should Know” debuted at number one of Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart dated May 21, 2022. Because it was not released to radio until months later, it didn’t enter Billboard’s Country Airplay chart’s Top Ten until December 31, 2022. This was the very same week his song “You Proof” was at number one.

“Thought You Should Know” reached number one on the Country Airplay chart for the week of February 25, and stayed at the top spot for the week of March 4. This week, it went number one on Mediabase. The single becomes his 8th to top the Country Airplay chart!

Surprisingly enough, this marks Miranda Lambert very first number one as a writer! She celebrated to occasion by sharing a selfie of Nicolle, Morgan, and herself the day they wrote the song. Alongside the photo, she wrote, “Congrats @morganwallen on your number 1 song “Thought You Should Know”. Proud to be a writer on a song about your mama! This is the first number 1 song I’ve ever had as a writer. We did good that day y’all. Cheers friends.”

How exciting! And it’s a dang good song. See her post below.
