Miranda Lambert Joins American Idol As A Guest Mentor
As season 23 of American Idol rolls on, they have brought in additional star power to help guide the contestants towards the finish line.
ACM Award record holder Miranda Lambert joined the ranks this week, serving as mentor for “Ladies Night.” The top 10 contestants chose songs by “iconic women of music” to perform for the occasion.

Previous mentors this season have included James Taylor, Josh Groban, and former Idol champion Fantasia.
In addition to her two decades of experience in the music industry, Miranda has a unique perspective to share with the contestants, having also found her start on a reality singing competition. In 2003, she competed on the inaugural season of Nashville Star, and ended up in third place.
In addition, the “House That Built Me” singer has previously served as a team advisor on previous seasons of The Voice.
As a mentor, Miranda said that she aims to be truthful and authentic.

Miranda Lambert Celebrates Twenty Years Of “Kerosene” On Idol
In March 2005, Miranda Lambert hit the scene with her debut album Kerosene. The title track was released as the third single from the album, and was an early indicator of the Texas natives’ success to come.
“Kerosene” lit up the radio waves, peaking at number 15 on the Hot Country Songs chart. It became Miranda’s first Gold certified single and earned her first Grammy nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

The celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fiery song, and to show the contestants a powerful woman of music in action, Miranda Lambert performed “Kerosene” on the May 4th episode of American Idol.
As host Ryan Seacrest said after her performance:
“And that’s how a superstar does it!”
