Shafer sang beautifully and struck a look of indecision on all four judges faces before Blake Shelton made the last minute decision to hit the button and advance Shafer on to the next round.

Noticeably shocked at Shafer’s appearance, Shelton exclaimedYou are what I love about The Voice! This guy has an amazing voice!”

The aspiring singer played in bands during his childhood and later went on the write jingles, penning the lyrics for the cartoon manifestation of “Transformers.”

Shafer put music on the back burner for his family but music never quite left the back of his mind.

“All of a sudden you are 56. Where did life go?” Shafer explains to the judges. “After all of these years it’s my last chance to make my dreams come true,” he continues noticeably filled with emotion.

Voice newcomer Miley Cyrus regarded Shafer as “an image for everyone to never give up on your dreams.”
