Rob Reiner And Wife Michele Found Dead Of Apparent Homicide

Decorated director Rob Reiner was found deceased in his Los Angeles home alongside his wife, Michele, on Sunday, December 14th. The couple, who were 78 and 68 years old respectively, appeared to have died from wounds consistent with a stabbing. There were no signs of forced entry.

Reiner is remembered as a talented actor, writer, and director. In his early years, he established himself with his portrayal of Michael “Meathead” Stivic in All in the Family, which earned him two Emmy Awards. He found success as a writer working on sitcoms like Happy Days and as a director for beloved films, including The Princess BrideWhen Harry Met Sally, and more.

The family confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement to Variety, which read:

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

On Monday, December 15th, LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton confirmed that the Reiners’ 32-year-old son, Nick, was arrested in connection with the double homicide. He has been charged with murder and is currently being held on $4 million bail. Nick reportedly has a history of struggles with drug addiction.

Reba Remembers Her “Friend” Rob Reiner

Country icon Reba McEntire paid tribute to Rob Reiner after news of his death spread. Along with a throwback photo of herself with the late director, she wrote:

“I enjoyed every minute I was around Rob Reiner. He was one of a kind.”

McEntire had worked with Reiner on the 1994 film, North, in which she played “Ma Tex.” Additionally, she shared that the director had helped with the music video for her 1993 hit with Linda Davis, “Does He Love You.”

“I sure will miss him. What a gift he was to this world. Rest in peace, my friend.”
