Scotty McCreery And His Son Enjoy A Day Of Golfing
Scotty McCreery may sing about “bare feet in the sand” in his new song “Bottle Rockets,” featuring Hootie & the Blowfish, but he and his two-year-old son were recently barefoot on the green.
In a video posted to Instagram on May 19, the country singer shared a sweet moment of him and his son, Avery, as they played golf.
Captioned as “Avery’s first putter lesson,” we see Scotty helping his son line up a shot before putting the ball.
As we can see, hitting the ball appears to be little Avery’s favorite part of the sport, as he continues hitting the ball โ even to the point of sending the ball away from the hole.
If this video is any indication, this coming summer will be “a summer that they can’t forget,” not unlike what Scotty’s song “Bottle Rockets” remembers.

Golf Is Becoming A McCreery Pastime
This is not the first golf lesson Scotty has given Avery and shared to social media.
Back on Valentine’s Day, he shared a video of the budding father-son duo working on their swing together.

Avery, whose full name is Merrick Avery McCreery, is the only child of Scotty and Gabi McCreery, who have been married since 2018.
The sight of Avery in Scotty’s social media posts is fairly common, with Scotty even bringing the toddler on stage at shows, or giving him a tour of venues before concerts start.
“Family time is the best time,” wrote Scotty on a February 5th Instagram post.
Scotty’s New Song With Hootie & The Blowfish
The May 19 video of the “putter lesson” is set to Scotty’s new song “Bottle Rockets,” which features Hootie & the Blowfish.
Released on May 15, the song is part summer anthem, and part tribute to Darius Rucker‘s quartet.
“Her kiss in the dark, the smile on her face / when she’d make me break out my guitar and play ‘Hold My Hand,’ ‘Hold My Hand.'”
The first collaboration between the two country acts, “Bottle Rockets” looks to the past while still looking ahead, with Hootie & the Blowfish singing the chorus to their 1994 hit “Hold My Hand” as its title is mentioned in Scotty’s song.
“Weโre so excited to be a part of Scotty McCreeryโs new summer jam!” Hootie & the Blowfish posted to social media.
Speaking about the song on his TikTok on Wednesday, May 21, Scotty said the song came about while “reminiscing on those good times and the soundtracks to those summers” that stand out from his youth.
Declaring Hootie & the Blowfish’s album Cracked Rear View (1994), which includes “Hold My Hand,” as “one of the best albums of all time,” Scotty remembered, “I started talking about Hootie & the Blowfish ’cause, I mean, No. 1, they’re huge everywhere and they still are, everybody knows their songs.”
When he and producer Frank Rogers realized “Hold My Hand” was the perfect element for “Bottle Rockets,” Scotty said he was “nervous” to reach out to Darius about incorporating “Hold My Hand” into the song.
“Worse they could say is ‘no,’ is what I thought, so I hit them up and [Darius] responded right back that he loved the song,” he said.
Notably, Hootie & the Blowfish singing the “Hold My Hand” chorus was newly recorded by the band for “Bottle Rockets,” rather than sampling the single, which Scotty said “made the song that much better.”
Scotty is from North Carolina, and Hootie & the Blowfish is based out of South Carolina, and Scotty’s song “Bottle Rockets” simply speaks of memories on “the Carolina coast.”
