The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), a charity in England and Wales that helps animals, showed a video of a squirrel getting stuck in a bird feeder after eating too many seeds.
“This little chancer decided to break into a bird feeder, but it all went very wrong and he became trapped inside,” RSPCA wrote on Facebook.
Footage showed the big-bellied squirrel sitting in a wire-caged bird feeder that was filled with nuts and was supposed to be squirrel-proof. His head and arms were poking through the metal cage as if he was now a prisoner being held captive.
The squirrel obviously didn’t think this through when it crawled its small body through the holes of the cage and began gorging on the abundance of tasty nuts and seeds.
Unfortunately, when he had his fill and was ready to leave the scene, his belly was way too big to fit through the little hole that it squirmed through initially.
The property owner on which the squirrel was found called the RSPCA in England to drive out the scene to help the poor little feller out of his jailed predicament.
A wildlife expert can be seen in the video carefully cutting the metal cage with wirecutters to help the squirrel get out. He just sat there being completely still with a look of regret on his face.
The happy ending is, he was set free from his prison cell, he was finally able to go back to his habitat and live out the rest of his days in peace.
RSPCA wrote on Facebook, “Luckily we were able to set him free, with only his pride harmed!”
