Voice Contestants Go Head To Head During The Battle Rounds
Season 28 of the hit reality singing competition, The Voice, is underway. Coaches Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Michael Buble, and Niall Horan carefully selected aspiring singers to fill their teams during the Blind Auditions.
Now, contestants are paried up and must perform head-to-head in the single-elimination Battle Rounds. At the end of each performance, the coach must choose who stays and who goes home.

Emmanuel Rey And Mindy Miller Face Off With A Country Hit
Two members of team Snoop Dogg took the battle stage to perform a classic country hit. Emmanuel Rey first impressed the Voice coaches with his cover of Carín León’s “Primera Cita.” Mindy Miller’s rendition of Lainey Wilson’s “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” inspired Snoop Dogg to use his only block on Reba.
For the battle, coach Snoop Dogg chose the timeless tune “Angel From Montgomery.” The performance was created from an eclectic blend of styles, with Mindy’s country twang and Emmanuel’s latin flair. Singer and rapper artist Lizzo served as their mentor during rehearsals.
“Angel From Montgomery” was written by John Prine and originally released on his 1971 self-titled album. Many artists went on to cover the song over the years, including John Denver and Bonnie Raitt.

Both Emmanuel and Mindy displayed their artistry on stage during the performance, and Emmanuel suprised viewers when he eloquently sang a verse in Spanish. They received a stading ovation from all four coaches.
Snoop Dogg Names A Winner Of The Battle
Snoop Dogg was left with the difficult task of selecting a winner. All three of the fellow coaches commended the contestants on a “beautiful” performance and emphasized how difficult it would be to choose between them.
The “Gin & Juice” singer joked that he was going to leave the decision up to host Carson Daly, admitting that he “hates this part of the show.” Ultimately, Snoop Dogg announced that the winner of the Voice battle round was… Mindy Miller!

Mindy will advance to the knockout round of the competition. She reacted to the news online, sharing:
“I’ve never stopped looking up to heaven for inspiration and guidance and I’m not stopping now! KNOCKOUTS here I come!”
