Warning: Sensitive details
A few weeks ago, a lawsuit was filed against Hollywood Records, Walt Disney Co. (the label’s parent company), and manager/producer/songwriter Keith Thomas.
The person chose to be identified as Jane Doe.
In her lawsuit, she alleged that Thomas molested her beginning when she was just 14 years old. She sued her record label and Disney for “failing to prevent the abuse from occurring,” according to PEOPLE.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Jane Doe revealed herself, writing, “3 weeks ago as “Jane Doe” I filed a lawsuit against my molester and those who enabled him. No more Jane Doe. I am Jordan Pruitt.”

Pruitt’s lawsuit said that her label wanted her to work with Thomas as her mentor and producer, and allowed it to be “unsupervised.” It also stated that Thomas was extremely controlling, even going as far as “deleting male contacts from her cell phone.”
Not only did her so-called-mentor control bookings, studio sessions, her tour schedule, her PR schedule and media requests, he also would criticize her about her “weight, looks, songwriting ability, maturity, and intelligence.”
“The beating-down process was soon repeatedly followed by a period of incredible showering of attention, compliments, flirting touching and assurances that Thomas ‘loved [Pruitt].’”
That was when the abuse began – at age 14 – and continued until right before her 16th birthday. Pruit alleges that Thomas took her virginity, and that she was “drugged and anally penetrated” by him.
The singer also says in the lawsuit that Thomas told her “their love was a secret.”
In a statement to Variety, Pruitt said, “Unfortunately, these large companies are primarily concerned with sales, money and charts. Too often they fall short of protecting the young talent that they are ‘supposed’ to be caretakers for. Time and time again we see people in positions of power fail us. I couldn’t be more disappointed in how Disney treats their underage talent like cash cows.”
Hollywood Records signed her in 2005 and she released two albums with them. She’s been on The Cheetah Girls tour, High School Musical: The Concert tour, and Demi Lovato’s tour in 2009.
After leaving Hollywood Records, Pruitt appeared on the third season of The Voice, singing Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” for her Blind Audition. She was on Christina Aguilera’s team and eliminated in the Battle Rounds.
