Country Artist Sings Hymn To Point To The Reason For The Season

Country singer Warren Zeiders’ latest single is his take on a hymn that transcends time and genre… and, in which by being about Jesus, it’s proving to be perfect for Christmas.

“How Great Thou Art” may be one of the most recognizable songs in the world, with the hymn originating in Sweden in the 19th century, but every artist brings something new to it.

For Warren Zeiders, it’s his interest in bringing a rock-worthy sound to country, with his rendition taking on the feel of a ballad. Beyond making it his own, the song is something he says he has a personal connection to, which has fueled his desire to give it his all.

Releasing his version of the hymn on October 31, Zeiders wrote on his social media:

“I can’t tell you the amount of times this song has left me crying my eyes out, because of the connection I have to this song. It’s my father’s favorite hymnal, as well as my grandmother, and my grandfather who I unfortunately never got to meet because he passed before I was born. When I first got this recording I was able to play it for my family and let me tell you there were a lot of tears of joy.”

Zeiders went on to note that his fans have been requesting that he record his version of the hymn “for quite some time,” adding, “So I figured this year I would release it as my Christmas song.”

Continuing, Zeiders said, “It’s not traditionally a Christmas song, but I think we can make it one. So when we are with our friends and families this year we can gather around and honor and glorify our Heavenly Father and celebrate the true meaning behind Christmas this year.”

2025 has been a big year for Zeiders, with the 26-year-old country artist being invited to the White House by President Donald Trump over the summer, and then getting the chance to perform at the military parade commemorating 250 years of the United States Army.

Now, “How Great Thou Art” gets to be part of his incredible 2025 story.

On Dec. 11, Zeiders made his way back to The Kelly Clarkson Show, with his previous appearance leading to a humorous exchange between Zeiders and Kelly Clarkson.

There, Zeiders performed “How Great Thou Art” on the Christmas-ready stage of The Kelly Clarkson Show, with her show’s band, My Band Y’all, providing musical accompaniment.
