Bless the creative soul who mastered the combination of our rowdy drink of choice and a classic, delicate dessert! The heavenly recipe not only satisfies our desire for our man Jack Daniels, but makes enjoying the taste that much more acceptable due to its lack of a glass bottle!
Here’s what you’ll need for your cupcakes:
3/4 cup softened unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1.5 cups flour
Pinch of salt
1 & 1/4 tsp baking powder
4 tbsp Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey
4 Tbsp Milk
Now, let’s make some boozy magic! We’ll start with the cupcake batter!
Beat the butter and sugar together until they combine into a thick dough-like batter (like fondant consistency). Mix in the 2 eggs. Beat until texture is creamy. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, & baking powder. While blending the batter, slowly add the dry ingredients (The batter should be sort of dry, like cookie dough or bread batter). Add in the whiskey & milk. Blend until all ingredients are combined. Line your cupcake pan with liners & add 2 tbsp of batter to each. Bake in 350 degrees F for about 23 minutes or until golden brown.
While your cupcakes are baking, you can begin on your Jack Daniels Buttercream Frosting. Yes, it is as delicious as it sounds, so don’t be surprised if a second batch is needed due to your inability to control your hunger on the first. Let’s whip this bad boy up!
Here’s what you’ll need for the frosting:
1.5 cup unsalted softened butter
2.5 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
Blend the softened butter and powdered sugar until evenly mixed. Add the vanilla extract & whiskey (If you would like a stronger taste of the whiskey, add 2.5 tsp of it). Beat until creamy. While blending, slowly add the whipping cream until it turns into the consistency of your frosting liking.
Now, for the Jack Daniel’s Honey Drizzle. While this step is essentially optional, it’s the component that gives the dessert its distinct taste, and mama always told us to go big or home. Fortunately, we’re settling for big!
The honey drizzle will call for:
1/4 cup Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey
3/4 cup brown sugar
1.5 tbsp unsalted butter
In a sauce pan set to medium high, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Add the Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey & the pinch of salt. Mix well & allow the sauce to boil for 5 minutes.When done, cool the drizzle. After frosting your cupcakes with a spoon drizzle as much sauce over your cupcakes WARNING TIP: Do not drip on the frosting when drizzle is hot, as it will melt the buttercream.
