Blake Shelton’s widely known for a large number of things, but going missing from one of the biggest events of the year isn’t commonplace. Tied up with filming The Voice this spring, his second job actually had very little to do with his noticeable absence from the 52nd Annual ACM Awards – an incredible moment for country music.
Lots of people have mistakenly stated that his girlfriend and fellow Voice coach, Gwen Stefani was responsible for his opting out of the annual awards ceremony, but that was likely not the case…
Celebrating incredible work by some of the best, brightest, and rising folks in country music, the unforgettable awards moment was surely not something many wished to miss and featured collaborations by some truly talented folks.
While the fact that Shelton wasn’t nominated for any of the awards this year probably had a lot to do with his absence, he shared with his fans exactly what was going on during one of the year’s biggest events.
In a tweet to his millions of followers, Shelton opened up about what his plans were for the evening.
“Ah… Another Sunday evening in my Oklahoma…,” he wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of himself sitting outside enjoying the weather and a nice cold drink.

Recently, Shelton also missed the CMA Awards in November due to a hunting trip and ‘Voice’ filming, too.
