Earning a coveted spot as one of the 52nd ACM Awards’ nominated acts for Vocal Group of the Year, Rascal Flatts made their presence known with an explosive performance of their new song “Yours If You Want It”, spreading a wealth of love and pure energy.
As soon as the group started performing, the entire arena filled with an abundance of light coming from everyone’s phones. It was a breathtaking sight to see all of the little lights twinkling in the audience as Rascal Flatts sang their powerful new song.
What many fans don’t know is that “Yours If You Want It” is an extremely meaningful song for all three members of Rascal Flatts. The peppy new single was released this past January as a precursor to the band’s upcoming album Back To Us, expected for release on May 19. The song was co-written by the late Andrew Dorff, a praised songwriter who tragically passed away in December of last year at the age of 40.
Band member Jay DeMarcus spoke out on their song and the massive influence Dorff had on its creation, stating, “We’ve been working really hard and we’re very proud of this track and what’s more, the late Andrew Dorff is a writer on it, and we are so honored to be a small part of making sure his legacy lives on. We have a special angel watching over it, for sure.”
Dorff’s light was definitely one of the many shining down on Rascal Flatts during their performance at the ACMs this year. We’re sure he would be so proud to see his work performed in such a beautiful way.
The outpour of praise for this upbeat tune has no doubt left fans anxious and eager for the release of the group’s future album! What did you all think of their live ACM performance? You can catch a short clip of it below.
