Carly Pearce is once again speaking up for others who may be going through the same health struggles that she has faced.
In May 2024, Pearce revealed that she had been diagnosed with a chronic heart condition known as recurrent pericarditis.
According to the Mayo Clinic, this happens when the thin, saclike tissue surrounding the heart becomes swollen and irritated.
Since learning about her condition, the “What He Didn’t Do” singer has been working to manage it. At the same time, she has also been advocating for others who may be facing similar health struggles.
Pearce has shared that it wasn’t easy to figure out what was wrong at first, since many doctors dismissed her symptoms and concerns.
So, she wants to give her fans as many outlets as possible if they feel they may need help.
In a video shared to her Instagram on Thursday, September 10, Pearce announced she was partnering with LifeDisRPted, a platform that shares stories from people living with RP and provides resources to control the condition.
“As some of you know, I’m living with recurrent pericarditis, a chronic heart condition,” Pearce began.
She continued, “When I first started experiencing pericarditis flares, I was in the middle of a grueling performance schedule. The flares were painful, and I would become short of breath and fatigued. After seeing many doctors, I learned I have RP. Once I had my diagnoses I was finally able to work with my doctor to identify ways to make my RP more manageable.”
Pearce then encouraged anyone who may be feeling uncertain about their symptoms to keep pushing for answers.
“If you are living with RP, you are not alone. My advice to you would be to really advocate for yourself in your appointments,” she added.
