For the past couple weeks, country superstar Carrie Underwood has been teasing her new single and her performance at the ACM Awards on Sunday, April 15. On April 4, she posted a black and white photo of herself in the studio with no caption, leaving fans to guess what it meant, and most were right.

Hoping and praying it meant she was working on a new album, Underwood delivered another bombshell social media post the very next day. A photo of her rehearsing on stage with her band.

Fans were left wondering what she was rehearsing for, since her next scheduled performance wasn’t until CMA Fest in June. On Monday, April 9, the Academy of Country Music issued a press release announcing Underwood as a performer at the awards show on Sunday, April 15 – something not a lot of people saw coming.

Not only did they announce her first return to the stage since suffering “gruesome” injuries in November, they also revealed she would be performing a “soon-to-be released” single, which was officially released on Wednesday (April 11).

Titled “Cry Pretty,” Underwood says the single is “emotional…real…and it ROCKS!!

After slaying her performance, and looking better than ever we might add, the audience gave her a very long standing ovation, making the superstar emotional. She even wiped a few of her pretty tears away!

For her first performance back, she shattered all of our expectations and came back better than ever. Don’t believe us? See for yourself in the video of her ACM Awards performance below.
