Less than a week after the beloved actor was hospitalized following a massive stroke, he has passed away at the hospital.
The longtime beloved actor who won hearts with starring roles in shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Riverdale, Luke Perry, was hospitalized after a stroke on Wednesday, February 27th, 2019. A rep for the actor said he was still under doctor’s observation at the time.
Former co-stars and actors took to social media to share their prayers for his recovery in the hours that followed. Shannen Doherty and Ian Ziering were two who uploaded photos of some of their favorite memories with Perry.
Now, just five days after his stroke, Perry has passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, California – TMZ reports.
Perry’s rep, Arnold Robinson, told the publication that Perry was surrounded by his children, fiance, ex-wife, mother, step-father, siblings, and many other family members at the time.
TMZ says that doctors had been working to help his body recover from the stroke and had hoped his brain had a good chance to heal itself, but it turned out that the damage was too extensive.
52-year-old Perry led a long career in acting with many notable roles including his best-known as Dylan McKay in Beverly Hills, 90210 alongside Shannen Doherty, Tori Spelling, and Jennie Garth.
Beyond just primetime television series, Perry also starred in some big movies and even took on the role of professional bull rider Lane Frost in the biopic of his life 8 Seconds.
My heart is sad for Luke Perry’s family. I got to work on the movie 8 seconds where Luke played the role of Bull Rider, Lane Frost, and he did a superb job. I can’t believe he’s gone so young.
