Lauren Alaina And Her Daughter Make A “Core Memory” With The Beloved ‘Sesame Street’ Character
No matter how many years or decades pass, a meeting with Elmo seems to remain consistently cool.
When Elmo and his friend Abby Cadabby visited the Grand Ole Opry as part of Sesame Street‘s Road Trip Across America, new mom Lauren Alaina was there to help.
Performing on August 14 for the first time since giving birth in June to her daughter, named Beni Doll Arnold, Lauren sang her 2015 hit song โRoad Less Traveled,โ with Elmo harmonizing throughout.
This was a heartwarming performance, but it turns out that it wasnโt the only song Lauren sang with Elmo.

On September 15, Lauren shared a behind the scenes video, captioned with, โAm I officially a cool mom yet?!โ
Expressing her love for Elmo, she added, โThis is definitely a core memory for us.โ
The video shows Lauren holding little Beni Doll while singing โYou Are My Sunshine,โ with Elmo doing what he does best: harmonizing.
As the song ends, Elmo says, โAw, that was wonderful,โ before giving Beni Doll a kiss on the forehead.
โElmo loves you, Beni,โ the three-and-a-half year old said.
Humorously, Lauren wrote on the video, โWhenever sheโs 16 and mad at meโฆ Iโm playing her this video.โ

Martina McBride Shares Her Elmo Memory In Response To Lauren
On Tuesday, September 16, country artist Martina McBride responded to Laurenโs video with Elmo with a โsweet memoryโ of her own.
โI saw [Lauren Alainaโs] post about her experience with Elmo and it immediately brought back the memory of the time I got to sing with Elmo on Sesame Street,โ she wrote.
Back in 2004, Martina McBride was a special guest on Sesame Street.
Her hit 2003 album Martina had been released the year before, featuring โThis Oneโs For The Girls,โ โGodโs Will,โ and more.
Initially, her appearance on the show finds her pretending to be a cat, with the theme of pretending being central to her time on Sesame Street.
The song she sings with Elmo begins with the lyrics:
โGive a quack and pretend youโre a duck, be a hen and give the world a big cluck. Whatโs the harm? Be the whole noisy farm! Thatโs pretending.โ
By the end of the song, they’re joined by the likes of Cookie Monster, Grover, and even an elephant.
