As the daughter of one of the biggest names in not only country music but the art form as a whole, you would only expect Garth Brooks‘ daughter Allie to inherit some of her father’s unreal talent. Proving that talent definitely runs in the family, the youngest daughter of the country music superstar performed a tear-jerking live rendition of Keith Whitley‘s “Don’t Close Your Eyes.”
Allie’s cover of Whitley’s iconic country song surely brought a tear to the eyes of those in the audience. Acoustic guitar in hand, the aspiring singer flawlessly executed her delivery of the sweet lyrics.
“Keith Whitley to me, just blows me away,” said Allie prior to her performance. “I could listen to his voice all day long…Since this is one of my favorite songs, and I think it kinda fits the weather, so I’m gonna play it for y’all.”
The young singer attended Belmont University and often could be found writing original songs in her spare time as well as performing at popular venues around Nashville.
Released as the third single off his second studio album, “Don’t Close Your Eyes” was one of the final songs released by the country singer before his untimely death in 1989. The song was met with massive success, going on to be named the No. 1 country song of 1988 by Billboard.
