All three judges, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, also performed. Even the remaining contestants took the stage to sing gospel inspired songs.
One of those ‘Idol’ hopefuls was Mattie Pruitt, who sang a moving rendition of “Rescue” by Lauren Daigle.”
Mattie Is The Youngest Contestant Of Season 27
At just 15 years old, Mattie Pruitt wowed the judges during her audition when she sang an impressive version of Jessie Murph’s “How Could You.”
Of course, Mattie’s audition stood out thanks to her talent, especially for someone her age. But what made it even more memorable was the special guest she brought along for support.
Country music star Craig Campbell joined Mattie for the big moment, even playing piano while she sang. She has known Craig for a while because she often plays at his coffee shop just outside of Nashville.
By the end, all three judges gave her a “yes,” sending her straight to Hollywood. And as we now know, Mattie made it into this season’s Top 24.

Most of the songs performed during Sunday’s “Songs of Faith” Easter special could more properly be classified as inspirational songs. Mattie’s cover of “Rescue” was one of only a few categorically Christian songs.
“Rescue” was released by Christian artist Lauren Daigle in 2019 as the third single from her third album, Look Up Child. Daigle said of the song, “‘Rescue’ is probably one of the most personal songs on the record. It was written for someone close to me who was going through a difficult time. I want people to listen to this song and leave feeling that while they may be struggling, there are better times ahead.”
