Everyone has their own way of celebrating success. For one American Idol contestant’s brother, he celebrated by getting a huge American Idol logo tattooed on his backside.
Just prior to his performance on Sunday night (April 17), contestant Cameron Whitcomb revealed that his brother Sheldon made him a deal early on in the competition.
“My family is super proud,” Whitcomb said. “My brother Sheldon calls me and he’s like, ‘Man, if you make it through to the top 24, I’ll get the American Idol logo tattooed on my butt.’ But I forgot about it. And then he sends me a photo of him in, like, a tattoo shop with this. It’s my signature underneath it. And then I had to pay for it.”

The singer then vowed to get a tattoo of his own if he made the Top 10. Unfortunately, Cameron was eliminated Monday night when the competitive field was reduced to 14.
The 18-year-old from Canada wowed the judges during his audition with a cover of Waylon Jennings’ “Rock, Salt and Nails.” Despite having never sang in front of anyone before, Cameron won over judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan who outvoted Lionel Richie to send Whitcomb on to Hollywood.
While competing in the Hollywood rounds, Cameron covered songs by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Black Sabbath and Bob Dylan. While Whitcomb advanced far in the competition even though he didn’t have a unanimous judges vote during his audition, the singer has a bright future ahead of him…and a new fan club.
Fans of the singer made their disappointment known after his elimination Monday night.
