Cody Johnson Is Preparing His Next Album
From 2006-2016, Cody Johnson self-released six albums. Following the underground success of his music, he was finally signed to a major label and released four highly-successful albums.
His latest work, Leather Deluxe Edition, secured him a CMA Award for Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2025 show.
Even though he won a big award, and was nominated for Entertainer of the Year, the singer could not perform due to a recent surgery he had to repair a burst ear drum.
For the weekend of November 14th, Johnson was the co-host of Country Countdown USA alongside Lon Helton, where he spilled a few secrets, including the birth of his first son, and what fans can expect from his next album.
Cody Johnson New Album Will Be Ready Next Year
In between songs, Helton asked Johnson about the CMA Awards, his nominations, and the songs he was nominated for, including his collaboration with Carrie Underwood, “I’m Gonna Love You.”
As the year wraps up, Helton asked what fans could look forward to in 2026.
Johnson revealed his goal is to hit the road again in February. His tour resumes on February 6 in Birmingham, Alabama, and runs until July 18th.
In January, he will be in the studio to do vocals on an album that will be released at some point in 2026. He also revealed two high-profile collaborators with will be included on the project.
“We’re pretty much done with an album,” he said. “Just need some guest performances by Luke Combs and Brothers Osborne. Then we’re done.”
