Ashley McBryde’s Full-Circle Moment At Opry 100
Arkansas native Ashley McBryde was one of the many talented country music artists who came together on March 19th to celebrate the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary. Opry 100 was hosted by Blake Shelton and broadcast live from the Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.

Fellow Opry member Terri Clark joined Ashley McBryde for an emotional performance of her 2018 hit, “Girl Goin’ Nowhere.”
Ashley McBryde penned “Girl Goin’ Nowhere” on the morning Guy Clark passed away in 2016. Her emotions were evident when she arrived at her songwriting session that day. Seeing her grief, her co-writer Jeremy Bussey suggested:
“For Guy, maybe we should write a good song, one you’d want to play at the Opry someday.”
McBryde told Bussey the story of her high school algebra teacher, who tried to discourage her dreams and told her she would never make it in music. “Girl Goin’ Nowhere” was born out of that songwriting session.
Standing in the historic Opry Circle, the 41-year-old choked back tears as she sang, “Not bad for a girl goin’ nowhere…” Watch the performance below!

Ashley McBryde Shares Emotional Response Her Experience At Opry 100
The morning after the momentous evening, McBryde shared a raw and heartfelt video on social media reflecting on the experience. She admitted that her “mind was blown” at some of the iconic performances, including Lainey Wilson with Marty Stuart and Alison Krauss with Union Station.
The Grammy Award winner gets emotional when she describes how Opry 100 embodied why she moved to Nashville.
“This is why a little girl from Arkansas decides that, ‘Someday, I’m gonna live there.’ And hopefully, last night, there was a young boy or young girl watching that show, and that same fire got lit. That’s why we do any of this.”
With the video, she wrote:
“To the little girl who thinks she’s going nowhere…keep at it. Thank you 100 times over again to the @opry and everything it stands for.”
