In August 2021, comedian Bill Engvall announced his retirement from performing live stand-up shows. He shared the following statement with Variety at that time:
“I have been blessed with the greatest career anyone could ask for,” Engvall said. “Making people laugh is a dream job and has fulfilled my life in so many ways. I’m excited to focus on future opportunities in entertainment and spend more time with my family.”
Engvall clarified that he is not retiring completely…he’s just leaving behind his life on the road.
“I’m not going anywhere – just hanging up my hat when it comes to sleeping in the airport and in-room dining,” he said.

At the same time, Engvall announced his plans to embark on a farewell tour called Here’s Your Sign, It’s Finally Time. Now, over a year later, that tour is coming to an end.
Engvall just finished performing his last weekend of shows. He has one more scheduled for New Year’s Eve. That show will be filmed for a future comedy special, so those who are unable to attend will still get the chance to see it.
As his retirement from touring approaches, Engvall is feeling emotional about closing this chapter of his life. Reflecting in a post on Facebook, he said:
“This past weekend wrapped up my last weekend on the road. This new chapter is both exciting and bittersweet, but I sure am gonna miss laughing with all of you!“
Engvall ended his post by reminding his fans that this is not “goodbye” for good:
“Remember, I’m not going anywhere,” he said. “I’m just coming off the road to spend more time with my family and my precious grand babies. Thank you for being the best fans in the world. I am truly humbled by your support the past 4 decades.”
