In an interview, Brantley Gilbert opened up about he and his wife Amber they make their relationship work.
“We have boundaries,” he explained. “We have to discuss certain things sometimes. I mean, like in any relationship we have to figure out where each other is comfortable and if there is something that I’m saying on stage or doing on stage that makes her feel disrespected that’s something as a husband I need to consider changing or make her understand why I say this or why do this. She does an awesome job with it.”
He can think of one instance at a show where she was not comfortable with what she saw and she wasn’t afraid to let him know. He was reaching down, high-fiving and shaking fans’ hands when a female fan tried to give him a pair of her panties! They ended up getting caught on one of his bracelets and he immediately put both hands in the air. To Amber, it looked like he was showing them off and she was not okay with it.
After the incident, the head of his security, PJ, told Gilbert what her reaction was.
“He said, ‘You lifted up and had that on your arm,’ she looked up at him and said, ‘PJ…’ And he said, ‘Yes ma’am?’ And she said, ‘I’m going to need you to take me to the pit.’ He said, ‘For what?’ She said, ‘Because I’m going to find that… ‘And he said,’ No no no no no!'”
We can’t imagine what words would be said if PJ actually took Amber to the pit to confront the woman, especially since Gilbert said, “She’s tiny, but she’s tough!”
