Three weeks ago, an NBA star, a supermodel, a bachelorette, a lifestyle guru, a funny man, a country singer, an NFL legend, a pop singer, an Office actress, and a former press secretary were all announced as the upcoming cast for Dancing With The Stars.

The cast was announced on Good Morning America, but unlike past seasons, their partners were not! Fans have to tune in on premiere day – Monday, September 16 – to see who each celebrity is partnered with.
One celebrity fans seem to be excited for is Christie Brinkley, a supermodel who starred in the Billy Joel music video “Uptown Girl.” People had predicted she’d be dancing to the famous song at some point in the competition!
Unfortunately, on Monday morning (Sept 16), it was revealed that during rehearsals, Brinkley suffered not just a broken, but a “shattered” wrist, which required surgery. This confused her fans who follow her on Instagram because late Sunday night, she said she was “so excited for tomorrow’s show.”

Good Morning America shared the footage of the injury, which looked to be pretty painful. Right after it happened, Brinkley knew she’d broken her wrist. Unfortunately, the injury was bad enough to force the supermodel to back out of the competition.
EXCLUSIVE ballroom bombshell! @SeaBrinkley is out of @DancingABC before the season begins. She tells @Ginger_Zee about her injury and the moment she called her daughter Sailor to ask her to step in for mom coming up on @GMA! #DWTS https://t.co/vCu1GI9DWR pic.twitter.com/SBDoWy84Aq

GMA‘s Ginger Zee sat down with the person replacing Brinkley with two days notice…her 21-year-old daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook!

Sailor, who is also a model, and recently graced the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, was flying in to support her mom on the premiere day, but got a phone call asking if she’d step in for her mom instead!
She told Zee that she’s had two days to prepare, whereas all the other celebrities got three weeks, so it should be interesting!
“Showbiz is all about getting a break, and Sailor and I both got one on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this season,” Brinkley said in a statement, joking about her injury. “Sailor joined the cast when I got mine … ouch somebody stop me, it hurts to laugh!”
According to GMA, Sailor fit perfectly into her mom’s opening night costume. It didn’t need to be altered at all! Watch coverage of the sudden switch-up below.
