One boyfriend went above and beyond to give the love of his life the day he felt she not only deserved, but needed. Chelsea Hogue was driving home one night from an evening with friends when a drunk driver ran a red light, slamming into Hogue and sending her to the unthinkable. Suffering a traumatic brain injury, Hogue was left to spend her life in a way she had never anticipated as the driver fled and has yet to be found.
Despite her injuries and memory loss, the woman clung to the music of one country artist that she had previously met but, due to her injuries, lost the monumental memory. Country singer Cole Swindell was her relief and Hogue’s boyfriend Joey Osborne knew a visit with her musical idol would mean the world to his girlfriend. “Our favor is to ask everyone to please share this picture to everyone and make it go viral,” he begged those on social media. “We have contacted his team, his company, wrote him on Facebook and Twitter. We really want her to relive one of her dreams and that’s meeting Cole Swindell!”
Osborne’s pleas were recognized and Swindell reached out to the couple in a FaceTime session that sent Hogue in disbelief. The singer graciously invited Hogue and Osborne to the Dig Your Roots tour, as the singer is the opener for the country duo Florida Georgia Line, and spent the evening socializing and making memories with the guests of honor.
Sitting down with Swindell, Osborne described that chilling night when his girlfriend was quite literally hit with the unexpected. “She was a nursing student at U of L, huge fan of yours,” he explained through tears. “She was out with her friends one night, came home, and… her light turned green, she was turning a left, and he [the drunk driver] ran a red light and hit her side. He is nowhere to be found.“
“She’s always been the type to help somebody else, and now we gotta help her,” added the admirable boyfriend who continues to stand besides his girlfriend through any barrier they have and have yet to face together.
Swindell recorded clips from the unforgettable night and posted the compilation to his Youtube page as part of his “Swindell Vision” series. While our heart breaks for Hogue in light of her tragic injuries, we deeply admire her incredible strength and larger than life personality.
