Landman Was Supposed To Return In November, But Now It’s Been Delayed
The second season of Taylor Sheridan’s Landman was initially projected to premiere in November, but it has since been delayed.
Landman officially started production on its second season in April. The cast and crew have been hard at work, with stars such as Demi Moore spotted filming the new episodes.
During their Q1 earnings call in May, Paramount shared the projected release time frames for Landman and other series. According to a transcript of the call, Season 2 of Landman was slated for a November release.

However, Landman‘s second season has now been delayed.
Thankfully, the delay won’t push back the premiere too far. During their Q2 earnings call, Paramount shared that Season 2 of Landman will start in December. No reason for the delay was provided, and an exact premiere date was not announced.
Landman wasn’t the only Taylor Sheridan series to get postponed. A new Yellowstone spin-off, The Dutton Ranch, was initially expected to premiere during the year’s fourth quarter (likely in November).
However, Paramount announced in its Q2 earnings call that The Dutton Ranch is now poised to premiere in 2026. Like with Landman, no reason for the postponement was given.
What Do We Know About Season 2 Of Landman So Far?
Although Season 2 of Landman has been delayed, we already know a few details about the upcoming episodes. For starters, the show will feature a brand-new cast member, although he isn’t new to the Taylor Sheridan universe.
Academy Award-nominated actor Sam Elliott will appear in Landman‘s second season. He previously starred in Sheridan’s 1883, a prequel to Yellowstone.
The Landman cast and crew have kept details surrounding Elliott’s character tightly under wraps. But series lead Billy Bob Thornton spoke in broad terms about their working relationship, saying:
“We’ve known each other since the ’80s, and to have him there is just a joy for me. He’s been a hero of mine my whole career, and I call him my friend, and he’s a great actor.”
Cast members Ali Larter and Michelle Randolph shared a photo with Elliott on set in May.

Landman‘s co-creator, Christian Wallace, recently shared what fans can expect from the show’s second season. Wallace spoke about the show’s main character, Tommy Norris, who’s now the new head of MTex Oil following the death of Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) in the Season 1 finale.
“Well, the thing about Tommy is: He likes the guys. He likes being involved in the day-to-day operations, at least to an extent. There are some days that I think he wishes he could never look at another pumpjack again. But it’s also part of what’s in his blood and what drives him to get up every day.”
Billy Bob Thornton, who plays Tommy, doubled down on those comments:
“Tommy is never going to get the landman out of him. I mean, that’s who he is. He does not want to be an executive guy. I don’t think he wants to be in the suit, but I believe he’ll do whatever it takes.”
