From Family Drama to Crime Lords – What to Expect in Landman Season 2
Although fans have yet to be given an exact release date for Season 2 of Landman. It was announced that the second season will be available sometime in November 2025.
As a short recap, the first season of Landman ended with a few cliffhangers and a big change-up! Monty Miller, who ran the oil company throughout the first season, passed away due to a heart condition, leaving Tommy and Monty’s wife, Cami Miller, to pick up where her late husband left off, although she is inexperienced.
Also relevant to the second season was the introduction of a new crime lord named Gallino. The drug cartel leader rescued Tommy from the local drug cartel when he was captured and being tortured over a season-long dispute. Gallino killed all the small-time drug cartel members just to rescue Tommy and ensure his “friendship” in the future.
Last time we checked, Tommy’s wife and daughter were up to their usual antics, taking their retirement home residents to a strip club.
Tommy’s son, Cooper Norris, got his first land deal, which will make for a very interesting season 2 for him and his love interest, Ariana.

What Do We Know About Season 2?
During a recent interview with TVLine, series co-creator and executive producer Christian Wallace opened up about what fans can expect from season 2.
There was some chatter online regarding Tommy’s new role as head of MTex Oil in season 2. Fans were concerned that they would no longer get their hands on Tommy but would be stuck watching a lot of boardroom scenes.
Wallace addressed this when he said,
“Well, the thing about Tommy is: He likes the guys. He likes being involved in the day-to-day operations, at least to an extent. There are some days that I think he wishes he could never look at another pumpjack again. But it’s also part of what’s in his blood and what drives him to get up every day.”
So yes, his role might be changing, but it seems fans do not have to be concerned about losing the main characters they love to an office, at least completely.
Billy Bob Thornton, who plays Tommy confirmed the sentiment when he said,
“Tommy is never going to get the landman out of him. I mean, that’s who he is. He does not want to be an executive guy. I don’t think he wants to be in the suit, but I believe he’ll do whatever it takes.”
Wallace also had words to say about Cooper’s new venture.
“Honesty, his straight-shooting, his knowledge of the industry — especially for how young he is — that’s paying him dividends right now. If there’s anything Landman teaches you, it’s that it’s hard out there in the old patch, and so no doubt, there will be some serious challenges thrown Cooper’s way if he continues, even if he continues to have success the way he has so far.”
