It’s just been two weeks since this former NASCAR star and son of a legend was involved in one of the scariest plane crashes we have seen. Miraculously, everyone on board survived and was checked out at the hospital.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. his wife Amy, daughter Isla, dog Gus, and his two longtime pilots all were captured on video as they made their harrowing escape from the fiery wreckage on August 15th.

Investigators report that the plane came in hard for a landing and somehow bounced twice before attempting a go-around because of the short runway.

On the second bounce, the landing gear on one side snapped off and that’s essentially what caused the plane to crash. The entire plane burst into flames and was nearly disintegrated by the heat.

Dale Jr. and his family were checked out by medics and he was taken to the hospital due to his injuries – which, at the time, were described as “cuts and bruises.”

Now, he is detailing exactly how bad his injuries still are in a new interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

“So, um, I had bad bruising on my back but I went and got some excellent advice and care and treatment for that,” he explained before revealing that he’s still dealing with pooling blood and swelling in his back.

“I’ve been doing some things at home to bring the swelling down and get rid of a lot of the blood. And, you know, it was just really swollen and bad but all that’s actually gotten better very quickly – so I think I’m gonna be okay [for this weekend’s race.]”

We are glad to hear that he is healing up very rapidly after such a traumatic experience – and are excited to see him on the track this weekend at Darlington.
