Earlier this year, Carpenter surprised fans when she joined country music legend Dolly Parton to remake “Please Please Please.” The duo released the hit on Valentine’s Day (February 14), and also released a music video with a black-and-white vintage aesthetic, reminiscent of the film Thelma & Louise.
Before releasing the song and music video, Carpenter gushed about her experience working with Parton, explaining she was on of her “biggest idols.”
Carpenter Makes Her Grand Ole Opry Debut
On Tuesday (October 7), Carpenter shined as she made her Grand Ole Opry debut. She described the experience as “magical,” but explained what made it most special was Sheryl Crow introducing her to the audience.
“last night i made my @opry debut in Nashville and what a magical night it was,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram. “The brilliant @sherylcrow took the time to come out and introduce me and i am the biggest fan ever so that made my whole night alone if nothing else!!!”
She performed her new hit “Go Go Juice,” for the very first time live, and concluded the debut with her current single, “Manchild.”
“You really raised me with this music,” Carpenter said onstage. “And you being fans of [country music] is what is continuing this legacy and allowing artists to be able to experiment and also feel inspired. And it’s really beautiful.”
