Morgan Wallen Becomes First Solo Artist With 2 Songs At No. 1 For 20 Weeks On Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart

Released on May 16, Morgan Wallen’s fourth album, I’m The Problem, continues to hold strong on the Billboard charts, presently sitting at No. 2 after enjoying a 20-week non-consecutive run at No. 1.

That feat made Morgan the first artist to have three consecutive albums top the Billboard 200 for at least 10 weeks.

As a triple-LP boasting 37 songs, I’m The Problem has seen listeners continue returning to the album thanks to the variety of catchy tunes and lyrical depth.

In fact, when the album was first released, 36 of its 37 songs were in the Billboard Hot 100, with a 37th song featuring Morgan, “Had Some Help” by Post Malone, giving Morgan a record-setting 37 tracks in the top 100.

Of those songs, “What I Want,” featuring pop star Tate McRae has maintained its status as the highest charting song on the album, and it has just earned Morgan a new accolade…

As of the week ending on October 11, “What I Want” has now been No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 20 weeks. The other Morgan Wallen song to stay at the top for at least 20 weeks is “Last Night,” from his 2023 album One Thing At A Time.

“Last Night” was No. 1 for 25 weeks.

Here’s the current list of songs with the longest run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart:

  1. “Meant to Be,” by Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line (50 weeks)
  2. “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” by Shaboozey (45 weeks)
  3. “Body Like a Back Road,” by Sam Hunt (34 weeks)
  4. “I Hope,” by Gabby Barrett (27 weeks)
  5. “Last Night,” by Morgan Wallen (25 weeks)
  6. “Fancy Like,” by Walker Hayes (24 weeks)
  7. “Cruise,” by Florida Georgia Line (24 weeks)
  8. “10,000 Hours,” by Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber (21 weeks)
  9. “What I Want,” by Morgan Wallen, feat. Tate McRae (20 weeks)
  10. “I Remember Everything,” by Zach Bryan, feat. Kacey Musgraves (20 weeks)

Tate McRae Largely Absent From Success Of “What I Want”

Interestingly, Morgan Wallen recently completed his 20-show stadium tour, the I’m The Problem Tour, and only ever performed “What I Want” with an artist who wasn’t Tate McRae.

Filling in for Tate McRae was country artist Ella Langley, who performed the song at both of Morgan’s shows at Camp Randall Stadium in Wisconsin. One of those performances found them singing in pouring rain.

Revisit that rain-soaked performance, here:

Morgan has also performed the song alone, using a vocal track of Tate McRae for her portion of the song, as can seen at his show in Miami, Florida, here:

“What I Want,” to date, is the only song Morgan has recorded with a female artist.
