Houston, Texas deputy Wes Manion was called out to a suburban neighborhood on Mother’s Day after locals spotted a tiger laying in a neighbors yard.
At first, Manion said he thought it was a joke but grabbed a small pistol by the door on the way out and drove to the scene to make sure. When he got there, he didn’t see the tiger until he started looking around a neighbor’s yard and spotted it lying behind a bush.
He pulled out his gun and pointed it at the animal that was, at this point, getting up to walk towards him. Manion told news reporters that he didn’t want to shoot the animal, and was doing his best to just stay calm until he could figure out a way to contain it.
However, the curious cat kept advancing on him, and right when things could have gotten ugly, the cat’s owner came rushing out the door yelling.
“Don’t shoot, don’t shoot!” the man yelled at Manion, and grabbed the cat by the collar, kissing it on the head.
The man yelled that it’s his tiger and the deputy told him to get it inside the house. The man listened and slowly walked the tiger back into the nearby home. Moments later, he could be seen speeding out across the front lawn in his truck, leaving with the tiger.
If the story couldn’t get any wilder, the man was later identified and police said he was recently released from jail on a $250,000 bond for a murder he allegedly committed back in 2017. Learn more in the police press conference video below.
