Detectives have finally concluded what caused Tiger Woods’ car crash on Feb. 23.
Woods was seriously injured after he struck a raised median just outside of Los Angeles around 7 a.m. Woods’ Genesis SUV crossed two oncoming lanes and uprooted a tree on a downhill road with a history of wrecks. Currently, Woods is in Florida recovering after undergoing multiple surgeries.

A large amount of speculation has surrounded the circumstances of Woods’ accident. After the crash, Woods told deputies that he did not remember driving and had no idea how the accident occurred. According to NBC News, Sheriff Alex Villanueva called the crash “purely an accident” and claimed Woods showed no evidence of impairment. Investigators did not seek a warrant for a blood screening despite the pro golfer’s previous history. In 2017, Woods checked into a clinic following a DUI charge in Florida.
Detectives obtained a warrant for the data recorder in Woods’ SUV. Still, Villanueva would not reveal the data contained in the black box. At least, not yet. Villanueva explained that the investigators need permission from the pro golfer before releasing any information to the public.
