Earlier this year, it was announced that a biopic about Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the famed Duck Dynasty family, would begin filming.
The film will be titled The Blind, and will chronicle Phil’s life, which in the 60s and 70s was riddled with addiction and “complicated family dynamics.”
Back in April, Northwood Acting Studio put out a casting call for various parts in The Blind. They were looking for children to play Phil and his wife, Kay Robertson’s sons Alan, Willie, and Jase in their younger years, as well as various background roles, such as high school football players, pharmacists, a barmaid, and grocery store employees.
It seems they found the right actors, because they are already done filming – as of October 5th.
Not only is the movie done filming, there is already a release date for the film . According to Deadline, The Blind will be released in theaters on September 22, 2023.
The Blind was filmed on location in Louisiana and will cover “never-before-revealed” aspects of Phil’s life.
“It was important to us that the film be real,” Willie Robertson told Deadline. “The transformation of Phil proves that anyone can change and that there is always hope.”
Most fans know of his philandering ways back in the day and how he found Jesus, got himself clean, and turned his entire life around – meanwhile building a huge duck call empire.
Phil promoted the movie on his official Instagram page and wrote, “This movie shows me at my worst moments. It wasn’t easy for me to watch, especially at first.”
He continued, “But ‘The Blind’ is also a movie about love and hope. If a scoundrel like me can be redeemed, then believe me, so can you. There’s nothing you’ve done that’s beyond God’s grace.”
