Now that NFL preseason games have officially started and football season is fast approaching, fans from all walks of life are coming out of the woodworks to represent their favorite team after a long off-season.
One person who is ecstatic that football is back is Carrie Underwood. For the past five years, she has sung the opening to to NBC’s Sunday Night Football after taking over from Faith Hill in 2013. The theme song was called “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” and was a reworked version of Joan Jett’s hit song “I Hate Myself For Loving You.”
Underwood sang this song for three years until 2016, when she debuted a new Sunday Night Football theme song called “Oh, Sunday Night,” which was a play off of her “Somethin’ Bad” duet with Miranda Lambert from 2014.
We have been waiting all off-season for any clues into Underwood’s 2018 anthem, which will mark her sixth season singing the theme. Luckily, the social media accounts for Sunday Night Football snapped a photo during the filming of the opening back in June, which featured the “Cry Pretty” singer in a leather-clad outfit.

Other than that small sneak peek, we didn’t know much – until now!
Thanks to a press release, we know that ten NFL stars will join Underwood in the opening video. Those players include Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, Kirk Cousins, Carson Wentz, Zach Ertz, Antonio Brown, and more!
We also know that there will be a new anthem, presumably titled “Game On!” You can hear part of it in the promo Sunday Night Football on NBC just posted to their Facebook page. The first SNF game will be on September 9, so we will have to wait until then to hear the full song.
Watch the promo below, and get excited, y’all! Football is back!
