14-year-old Vinya Chhabra earned a 3-chair turn on The Voice with her incredible performance of a rock hit.
Only a few episodes of The Voice Season 28 Blind Auditions are left, meaning that the pressure is on as artists hope to secure a spot on the show. During Monday night’s episode (October 6), one of those artists handled the pressure with a grace that belied her age.
14-year-old Vinya Chhabra seemed unfazed as she took the stage to perform a dynamic cover of Alanis Morissette’s 1996 hit, “Ironic.” It’s likely that Chhabra’s experience as a classical concert pianist who helped keep her nerves in check for her potentially life changing audition on The Voice. Chhabra’s resume includes performing at Carnegie Hall and involvement in musical theater.

When Vinya took the stage, she did so with confidence, something that the coaches noticed even though they suspected she was a young artist. Reba McEntire was the first to turn her chair, followed by Michael Buble and Snoop Dogg, who turned at the last minute.
Coach Snoop praised Vinya’s composure on stage, saying, “You pack a powerful punch at your age. You’re not nervous. You’re not afraid. That’s superstar quality.”
Reba called Vinya a “powerhouse,” and applauded the teen’s attitude and voice.
When it came time for Vinya to pick her coach, her parents joined her on stage to help make the choice. Vinya ultimately chose to join Team Reba, a move the country star was thrilled about.
“Vinya really had great range, great tone, and the young contestants on this show are like sponges. They really wanna learn. They really wanna grow,” Reba said.
Teen contestants have historically done well on The Voice. Brynn Cartelli (Season 14) and Carter Rubin (Season 19) were both 15 when they won the title. Danielle Bradbery (Season 4), Sawyer Fredericks (Season 8), and Chevel Shepherd (Season 15) were 16-years-old when they won The Voice.
