Gordon Ramsay Traveled Across The U.S. To Try This BBQ
If you were raised in the South, you understand that Southern BBQ is almost a religion. Therefore, it might be surprising that the most famous Michelin-star chef only tried a real proper plate of Snow’s Texas BBQ for the first time at age 54.
Gordon Ramsay, the now 58-year-old chef, has made a name for himself as a TV personality. Ramsay has over 200 IMDB credits but is most known for Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Hell’s Kitchen, and MasterChef.
He portrays a hothead chef who uses the F-word in nearly every other sentence. To further explain the character he portrays, his most viral moment is him holding two pieces of bread over a woman’s face and requiring her to call herself “an idiot sandwich.” Watch below.

The hotheaded chef was born in Scotland and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. His upbringing across the pond might account for his lack of knowledge of Texas BBQ. But that all changed in 2019 when Gordon Ramsay’s American Road Trip was filmed.
The documentary-style film follows Gino D’Acampo, Fred Sirieix, and Ramsay as they travel the United States in an RV in an attempt to try the best food throughout the nation. Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix are TV personalities and chefs who collaborated with Ramsay on multiple projects, including Gordon, Gino, and Fred’s Road Trip.
They stopped at Snow’s BBQ in Lexington, Texas, during their road trip. Learn all about the famous restaurant below.
Gordon Ramsay Tries True Southern BBQ
During their stop at the well-known Texas BBQ restaurant, the three chefs experienced true southern cooking. When the meat platters arrived, one remarked, “Is this for one person?” as they were shocked by the size of the platter.
The server humorously responded, “You’re in Texas.”
Their astonishment at the size of everything did not end there. The three chefs could not believe how large the BBQ smokers were or the sheer amount of BBQ served on a typical Saturday. According to the video, it is over 200 pounds. This only proves that everything is indeed bigger in Texas.
The three chefs loved the food and could not get enough.
During these road trip videos, Ramsay shows his softer side as he explores good food throughout the nation. When trying BBQ for the first time, he got to meet the famous 84-year-old pit master affectionately named Mrs. Tootsie. Watch their adorable interaction below.
