Granger Smith Wins New CMT Award: Quarantine Video Of The Year

Every June, fans flock to Nashville, Tennessee for a week entirely filled with country music. CMT Music Awards usually kicks the week off, followed by the four-day CMA Fest. But this year, neither event took place in its normal capacity.

CMT Music Awards were postponed until October 14, and then changed again to October 21st.

The awards show, which usually takes place at the Bridgestone Arena, was filmed from [LOCATION], with the live performances taking place from landmarks around Nashville.

The Kane Brown, Sarah Hyland, and Ashley McBryde-hosted event handed out ten awards, including two new ones. One of the new awards is so fitting for 2020 – the Quarantine Video of the Year.

Since most of the year most everyone has been in quarantine, CMT added this category because so many country singers got very creative with live streaming from their homes and even released quarantine-inspired songs.

CMT announced the new category on their Instagram page on October 16, just five days before the awards show.

The nominees were as follows:

Brad Paisley – “No I In Beer”
Carly Pearce – “It Won’t Always Be Like This”
Big & Rich – “Stay Home”
Charlie Worsham ft. Billy Justineau, Molly Tuttle, Rachel Loy, Jillian Jacqueline, Tucker Wilson, Stephen Wilson Jr., Leigh Nash, Fancy Hagood, Lucie Silvas, John Osborne & Sadler Vaden – “With A Little Help From My Friends” (Beatles Cover)
Dave Haywood (of Lady A) and Kelli Haywood – “Just Another Day In Quarantine”
Dolly Parton – “When Life Is Good Again”
Granger Smith – “DON’T COUGH ON ME!”
Luke Combs – “Six Feet Apart”
Tenille Townes ft. Abby Anderson, Kassi Ashton, Keelan Donovan, Alex Hall, Adam Hambrick & Caylee Hammack – “Lean On Me” (Bill Withers Cover)
Thomas Rhett ft. Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin & Keith Urban – “Be A Light”
