On New Year’s Day in 2017, Paraguayan cowboy Wagner Lima passed away unexpectedly. He was 34 years old.
As Lima’s friends and family were being told of his death, there was someone that would have to figure it out on his own, Lima’s best friend – his horse named Sereno.
Lima’s brother knew that Sereno should be present at the funeral, seeing as they were inseparable. What Sereno did as Lima’s casket was being transported was breathtaking and emotional.
Lima’s brother led a march to his final resting place in Cajazeiras, Brazil, and Sereno joined them. Actually, he walked up to the hearse and smelled the casket, as if he knew his best buddy was inside. That was emotional enough for the guests in attendance. They never expected him to do what he did next.
Sereno then laid his head down on his owner’s casket, causing everyone to burst into tears – including us. The day was already emotional, but Sereno’s reaction made it so much more.
According to Inside Edition, Sereno also whimpered during the march. Watch their full report on the story below.
