Jake Owen Hits Four Years Sober
Country music star Jake Owen is celebrating a deeply personal milestone, four years of sobriety!
Owen took to social media to share an emotional and reflective post, filled with gratitude, strength, and vulnerability.
“4 Years Today,” he titled the post.
Owen wrote:
4 years ago today, I knew that it was time
To be a better man, and live a sober life
Be a better father, be a better friend
And by the grace of God, I felt like I got to start all over again
I’ve stuck to the plan, but I’m still working me
I know who I’ve been, and who I wanna be
Thank y’all for the kindness, and the high fives along the way
I hope I can be an inspiration for someone who wants to start today
“Love y’all. Here’s to 4 years of the best decision I ever made in my life. For a guy that can be pretty hard on himself, I gotta say I’m proud of me,” Owen finished off the post.
Jake Owen First Opens Up About Getting Sober
Owen first opened up in July of 2022 to give fans a glimpse into his journey of quitting alcohol.
“317 days ago I embarrassed myself after drinking too much alcohol one night. It wasn’t the first time either,” Owen said. “The next day I told myself, ‘never again.’ I am better than that, and the people I love the most deserve better. My family, my little girls, and my friends.”
The country singer, who was 316 days sober at the time, admitted that he made the post in hopes of inspiring anyone else in a similar position.
Owen’s Journey To Better Health
In August of 2023, Owen shared with fans that he was celebrating 689 days of sobriety (nearly two years!).
The country star said that he was incredibly proud of sticking with it, and encouraged others to do the same.
“Now that I got your attention… I know you’re thinking about it. You kinda wanna explore ‘maybe not drinkin’ anymore.’ Well take it from me, your friend Jake. 689 days ago I made a decision. I’ve stuck to it, and I’m really proud of myself,” he said at the time.
“I just want to encourage any of you that might be considering quitting drinking that you should! Feel better. Be better. Shoot… I’ll be your supporter. I’ll cheer you on.”
Congratulations to Jake Owen, what an inspiration you are to so many!
