Old Dominion has had to reschedule a few upcoming shows so their drummer, Whit Sellers, can recover from a serious back injury.

The band shared the update on their Instagram Story this week, letting fans know that two of their shows scheduled for the weekend have been moved to a later date, while one has been canceled completely.

“We’re sorry to let y’all know that Whit is receiving treatment for a back injury and we have made the difficult but necessary choice to prioritize his health and recovery before returning to the stage,” they wrote.

Old Dominion was set to make appearances in Ontario, Bakersfield, and Fresno, California. They announced that the Ontario show has been moved to December 10 and the Bakersfield show to December 11. Unfortunately, their appearance in Fresno will not be rescheduled.

The band confirmed that anyone who purchased tickets for that concert will automatically receive a refund.

The band didn’t share any further details about Seller’s injury. Their drummer is known to be a very private person and is rarely seen in public outside of concerts.

Old Dominion’s frontman, Matthew Ramsey, recently spoke about the topic during an interview on Bobby Bones’ Bobbycast. He shared why Sellers needs to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible.

“I’ve known Whit my whole life and he’s always been the same. He has crippling social anxiety,” he explained.

“We had to come up with a new agreement within the band with him so that he could opt out of that stuff,” Ramsey added, referring to red carpets and other special appearances.

Ramsey knows firsthand the need to adjust tour schedules to focus on health. Old Dominion has faced similar challenges before.

In 2023, Ramsey broke his pelvis in an ATV accident, and back in 2021, he suffered a broken rib and a collapsed lung after falling off a ladder at home while changing a lightbulb.

Thankfully, it looks like their drummer will be back soon. Old Dominion’s next scheduled show is set for September 25 in Kennewick, WA.
