Lisa Marie’s memoir will be available on October 8.

Lisa Marie Presley’s Memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, Will Detail Her Life Story

Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, tragically passed away in January 2023 at the age of 54 due to a small bowel obstruction that developed after bariatric surgery she had gotten years prior. Before her passing, she was in the process of writing a memoir that captured her life stories and experiences she had never shared publicly.

After Lisa Marie’s death, her daughter Riley Keough stepped in to complete the memoir. Riley dedicated herself to finishing the project by listening to hours of tapes her mother had recorded, making sure Lisa Marie’s story would be told in full.

“Because my mother was Elvis Presley’s daughter, she was constantly talked about, argued over, and dissected,” Riley told PEOPLE during an interview.

She shared that her goal in helping to finish the memoir is to portray her mother’s true self, beyond the magazine headlines that have followed her throughout her life.

Riley explained that she hopes the book will be able, “to turn her [mother] into a three-dimensional human being: the best mother, a wild child, a fierce friend, an underrated artist, frank, funny, traumatized, joyous, grieving, everything that she was throughout her remarkable life.”

“I want to give voice to my mother in a way that eluded her while she was alive,” she added.

Julia Roberts to Narrate From Here to the Great Unknown Audiobook

Now finished and nearing its release, more details about Lisa Marie Presley’s long-awaited memoir are coming out. Most recently, it was announced that Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts will narrate the memoir’s audiobook. According to Roberts, this opportunity is a “real privilege,” as she feels honored to lend her voice in place of Lisa Marie.

“I was so moved by Lisa Marie’s incredible memoir,” Roberts said in a statement. “It was a real privilege to give voice to her wild and beautiful life and I deeply appreciate Riley entrusting me with her mother’s story.”

Additionally, Riley Keough will narrate portions of her mother’s book, too. The audiobook will also include never-before-heard selections from the personal tapes Lisa Marie recorded while preparing to write the memoir, giving listeners a glimpse into her thought process as she worked on the project in the years leading up to her passing.

Riley Keough is set to discuss her mother’s book in more depth during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, filmed at Graceland and scheduled to air on the book’s release date.
