Cody Johnson recently surprised fans with the announcement of Leather: Deluxe Edition.
This expanded version of his 2023 album Leather will feature 13 new tracks, bringing the total to 25 songs. The new project will be released on November 1!
The original Leather album, Johnson’s ninth studio release, included the hit singles “The Painter” and “Dirt Cheap,” both of which reached number one on country charts. Building on this success, the deluxe edition aims to offer fans additional material to enjoy.
Leading the new tracks is “I’m Gonna Love You,” a duet with Carrie Underwood, now available on streaming platforms. The song, originally produced in 2019, wasn’t planned as a duet. When considering adding a female voice, Johnson told Universal Music Group Nashville:
“From the moment I heard this song, I heard Carrie’s voice on it. It was a non-negotiable for me; either we sing it together, or I wouldn’t sing it at all. It’s that special to me.”

Johnson wrote in his announcement of the deluxe album:

Cody Johnson, who recently had to cancel his last two remaining September show dates, is currently on his Leather Tour. His next stop is scheduled for October 11 in St Paul, Minnesota. Who knows? Maybe lucky fans in attendance will get to hear some of his new songs!
