Kelsea Ballerini Calls Out Fans Mid Concert For Negative Comments About Her Ex-Husband
Kelsea Ballerini wants everyone to know that she does not support fans bashing her ex-husband, Morgan Evans.
On February 23, Ballerini made a stop at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida while on her Patterns tour. However, at one point during the show, she had to pause mid-song to address fans who began shouting hateful comments about her ex as she started singing her hit “Penthouse.”
Ballerini’s song “Penthouse” is widely known as a breakup track, released after her highly publicized divorce from Evans following five years of marriage. The lyrics to the song go as follows:
“It hurts putting shit in a box / And now we don’t talk / And it stings rolling up the welcome mat / Knowing you got half”
It was right after Ballerini sang this line that fans began yelling profanities about Evans. Hearing this from the stage, Ballerini stopped the song to address the situation and set things straight once and for all.
“Guys, we have to stop saying that,” Ballerini said to the crowd. “Seriously, we’re three years past it, everything’s fine now.”
“I sing the song for you now, it’s not about me anymore, please,” she continued. “Alright, for everyone that’s moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?”
Fans quickly showed their support for Ballerini’s decision to call out these few people. They flooded the comments section of the video of the incident, sharing their appreciation for how she handled it.
“I love that she called them out. THATS healing,” one person wrote.
“People forget that was her husband.. for multiple years. You can still respect someone even though you got a divorce and she’s doing exactly that,” another said.
“So classy of her to call someone out she’s over it,” added another.
Ballerini is clearly ready to put her past behind her, especially since she’s now dating actor Chase Stokes. The couple initially kept their relationship private when they first started dating in December 2022. It was just a few months later that rumors about their potential romance started circulating. They officially made their public debut in April 2023 during the CMT Awards red carpet.

Kelsea Ballerini Reschedules Shows Due To Illness
This wasn’t the first time Ballerini had to stop her concert mid-show, though. Just a couple of weeks ago, she had to halt her performance for a completely different reason. The “Peter Pan” singer told the crowd she was so sick with the flu that she couldn’t continue performing.
Because of this, Ballerini rescheduled the concert that she had to cut short, along with a few others that followed in the days after. Those shows will now be moved to the end of her tour, which is set for April.
