On January 19, 2020, Liv Tyler returned to the small screen to star in the FOX television show 9-1-1 Lone Star, a spin-off of the highly-popular show 9-1-1.

9-1-1 Lone Star is set in Austin, Texas where Rob Lowe’s firefighter captain character, Owen Strand, is brought down from New York City to help rebuild firehouse 126 after losing all but one member of the house in a tragic explosion.

Tyler’s character, Michelle Blake, is an EMS captain and paramedic. She and her crew answer every medical call alongside Lowe’s crew.

Her storyline doesn’t end there though. Three years before, Michelle’s sister Iris disappeared and her character has dedicated her life to figuring out what happened. The night Iris went missing, Michelle finally built up the courage to sing at an open mic, which Iris had always pushed her to do.

During a March 2020 episode, we finally see her stage debut, where she sang Emmylou Harris’ “‘Til I Gain Control.” Liv stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show to talk about the series and of course, Kelly brought up the singing scene!

Seeing as Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is her father, Kelly asked what his thoughts were when he saw the performance.

I sent it to my dad and he didn’t write me back for about two-and-a-half weeks,” she said.

Defending him, she explained that at the time, he was incredibly busy with his Las Vegas residency and revealed she sent it again and this time, he did respond!

I sent it again and listened and he said he cried,” she told Kelly.

Steven’s reaction made the entire audience go, “Awww!”

Kelly complimented Liv’s singing voice and compared it to Alison Krauss and Kacey Musgraves – quite the compliment!
