On. January 1, 2024, the legendary Wildhorse Saloon announced they were closing their doors after 33 years.

In a Facebook post, the bar wrote a letter to their patrons.

“Dear Wildhorse Saloon Family,

Since 1994, Wildhorse Saloon has been a beacon of Nashville’s vibrant music scene. We’re excited to announce that 2024 marks the beginning of a new chapter for this iconic venue,” Wildhorse Saloon shared on their Facebook account.

“As we step into this promising era, let’s raise a glass to the past and toast to the brilliant future ahead,” the statement continued. “Our heartfelt thanks to patrons, artists, staff, and everyone who contributed to making Wildhorse Saloon the legend it is today. We extend our deepest gratitude to all who graced our stage, danced on our dance floor, and sang along to the music.”

Although it is incredibly sad, it shouldn’t have come as a shock to bar-goers or fans.

On April 13, 2023, The Tennessean reported the news of the closure and revealed that a bar from Luke Combs would be taking its place.

  • A two-story ticketed concert hall that holds up to 1,500 people
  • A third-story sports bar catering to legalized sports betting
  • A bachelorette-themed area named after his hit song “Beautiful Crazy” and a section dedicated to his fans, the “Bootleggers”
  • An additional bar for high-end bourbon drinkers
  • A 9,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor rooftop named the “Eye,” in reference to Combs’ debut single “Hurricane.”

A few reporters on X, then Twitter, revealed that the name of the bar would be Hurricane. But we have since found out that was wrong information.

Luke Combs announced the name for his bar in an Instagram video on Monday (January 29).

“I’m excited to officially announce the name of that bar,” Combs said. “It’s going to be called Category 10. I’m so excited about that. Obviously, as you guys know, the strongest a hurricane can be is a Category 5, so we figured we’d double it and make it Category 10!”
