Luke Combs Finally Breaks Silence On Emotional Opry Invite

On Tuesday night (June 11), Luke Combs was asked the question that almost every country artist dreams of hearing, “How would you like to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry?”

A shocked Combs broke down crying in response. In fact, he was so overwhelmed with emotion that he never actually uttered the word “yes” to accept the invitation.

But his response made it clear that his answer was a full-blown “yes.”

After taking some time to soak in what just happened, Combs finally broke his silence about the emotional moment in a series of posts on social media.

On Instagram, his first comments were accompanied by a series of photos, including one of him backstage at the Opry with his fiancée Nicole. In his post, Combs thanked Nicole and all of the other people in his life who have always supported him, thus making his Opry invitation possible.

He also wrote about how meaningful being asked to be an Opry member is:

No way to express in words what yesterday meant to me. Being invited to be the next member of the Grand Ole Opry is the highest honor in country music and something I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

A few hours later, Combs followed up with another message as well as the video of him being asked to join the Opry by Craig Morgan, Chris Janson, and John Conlee.

This is the absolute feather in my cap for me as far as career goals,” he wrote. “It is the absolute No. 1 thing for me. It cannot be surpassed.”

In his post, Combs also acknowledged how he never said “yes” to accept the invitation, so he wanted to do so now. “There’s nothing to say but yes, and I didn’t even say yes,” he wrote. “I just cried the whole time. Let me go on the record and say, ‘Yes.‘”
