Morgan Wallen’s Newest Single “Smile” Lands In Billboard’s Top Five

To ring in the new year, Morgan Wallen surprised fans with the release of his latest single, “Smile,” on December 31.

The New Year’s Eve drop was accompanied by a music video starring Wallen himself.

The video opens with Wallen backstage in a dressing room, preparing for a New Year’s Eve performance on a late-night talk show. The story follows a complicated relationship between him and his love interest. Just as he’s about to talk to her, he’s pulled away to perform. Though he’s supposed to sing “Love Somebody,” Wallen surprises everyone by switching it up and performing “Smile” instead.

Two weeks after its release, the music video for the track has already garnered an impressive 5.9 million views.

Not only that, but “Smile” has climbed from No. 27 to No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. According to Billboard, the song has accumulated over 27.4 million streams and sold more than 7,000 copies between January 3 and January 9. This marks Wallens 12th Hot 100 Top 10.

Is Morgan Wallen Releasing A New Album Soon?

Fans are excited and guessing that Wallen is getting ready to release a new album. His latest song, “Smile,” follows the release of “Love Somebody” in October and “Lies, Lies, Lies” earlier last year.

The string of new songs has already sparked talk, but the music video for “Smile” has fans even more convinced, as they believe it hints at a big project coming soon.

Viewers noticed the phrase “Dark Til Daylight” appearing several times throughout the video. It was the name of the fictional show Wallen performed on, and it also appeared on a sheet of paper hanging in the dressing room where his character starts and ends the story. So could this be his next album name?

Also, beneath the presumed title were tiny words arranged like a list. However, they were too small to read. Many people believe this might be a sneak peek at the tracklist.

We will just have to wait and see…
