Rushed away from the scene in an ambulance, this veteran racer has been placed in the ICU following a severe car accident in his hometown, and just feet from the site of Asheville Motor Speedway where he was a local legend.
On December 3rd, 2017, Jack Ingram was involved in a multiple-vehicle accident at an intersection in his hometown and was transported to a local hospital where his family states he is receiving care in the ICU following the incident.
According to the police incident report, Ingram’s car was struck on the driver’s side as he passed through the intersection and did a full 180-degree spin before coming to a full stop after sliding off the road. Only Ingram and one passenger from the other vehicle were injured, the unknown passenger being treated for minor injuries.
In a report on NASCAR.com, Ingram’s family issued a statement about his condition that said: “We are currently by his side, managing his care with his clinicians and will decide next steps. We remain hopeful and positive, and appreciate all thoughts and prayers. We will provide updates as information becomes available.”
Ingram is a beloved legend in the racing community and is best-known for his incredible career as a driver in what is now called the Xfinity Series. He won the championship in both 1982 and 1985, while later earning great marks and titles in many Late Model Sportsman races. He was inducted into NASCAR‘s Hall of Fame in 2014.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ingram while he works toward a speedy recovery after this terrible accident.
