For the past few weeks, Russian president Vladamir Putin has been readying his troops at the border of Ukraine and he launched a “full-scale attack” on the country last week.
According to USA Today, Putin claims that he is attacking Ukraine in defense of “the Russian-speakers in Ukraine, especially those in the two self-declared republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, which left Ukrainian control in 2014.”
Russia invaded Ukraine from the north, east, and south and have also taken control of the Antonov Airport, which is about 15 miles from Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The mayor of Kyiv is former boxing champion Vitali Klitschko, who has held this post since 2014. Vitali’s brother is also a boxing champion, Wladimir Klitschko, and he announced earlier in the month that he had joined the Kyiv Territorial Defense Brigade, a military reserve.

Wladamir may look familiar to you because he and Nashville star Hayden Panettiere were together on and off from 2009-2018. The pair share a daughter, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, born in December 2014.

While the two are no longer together, they are supportive of one another and work hard to co-parent their daughter. Many reports reveal that Wladamir has custody of Kaya and she lives in Ukraine with him. When Russia invaded Ukraine, fans became concerned for Kaya’s safety after Panettiere shared a long post, standing in solidarity with her former fiancé and Ukraine.
“I have personally witnessed the strength of the Ukrainian people who fought so hard for their independence and have continued to passionately defend their country over the years,” she wrote. “hat Putin is doing is an absolute disgrace! This horrific moment in history sends a terrifying message: the message that in this day and age, in year 2022, it’s okay to violate the rights of free people and allow autocrats like Putin to take whatever they please.”
The actress continued, “I’m praying for my family and friends there and everyone who’s fighting. I wish you had more support and I wish I was there fighting with you! For now, I ask for those of us who can’t be there to stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and show your support for #democracy.”

Comments flooded her post, with many asking if her daughter is safe and Panettiere confirmed that she is “safe and not in Ukraine.”
